This painting originally illustrated, “Marsh Memories”, written by Wade Bourne about a memorable hunt on a coastal Texas marsh. The story was published in the November/December 2015 issue of Ducks Unlimited magazine.
It’s not infrequent for me to look at a canvas, years later, and see a different ending. While the story called for two hunters, one of them ill, I always saw this painting with a lone hunter. In early 2018, I decided to rework the painting and listen to what it had to say to me. One of the wonderful things about having artwork for long periods of time is that I have the opportunity to eventually get it right.
This original oil on stretched canvas measures 16 x 14 inches.
