Even though everyone who works at an Alaskan fishing lodge is up early, the summer days are so long that it’s not early enough to watch the sun rise. It’s not until the fall of the year, when the shortening days chisel away at the daylight, that the spectacle of a sunrise over the mountains becomes possible — the peaks catching fire in the first light while the lake below still holds the last of the night.
Painted in the summer of 2026 on location in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska.
