East of Sad Face

I love to paint the play of light across the land; light, shadows, and the sky reflected in water. I’ve become particularly fond of painting aerial landscapes, like those I’ve seen countless times from floatplanes in Alaska.

“East of Sad Face” records a perfect autumn afternoon stretching out to the west over Tikchik Lake toward evening and the Kilbuck Mountains.

If you’ve ever spent time in this part of the world… you’re smiling right now.

This original oil painting on stretched canvas measures 24 x 20 inches.
